Mr. Clark: Jeff, have you heard anything yet from Siesta Industries?
Jeff: Not a word since my e-mail to them 2 days ago. Our order with them is now one month late.
Mr. Clark: And they have now turned out to be the worst supplier we've ever worked with! They've left us in a bind before, but never like this!
Jeff: That's true. But hmmm, I have an idea. What if I were to suddenly
show up at their plant unannounced? I could check things out in person and maybe see what the problem is.
Mr. Clark: I don't think poking around in their factory will get results. No, I have a better idea. Send them an e-mail and tell them I've had a change of heart and wish to cancel our order. In fact, I have no intention of ever doing business with them again... even though they ARE the cheapest.
Jeff: OK, I'll do it now. (facing computer) Oh look! We've just gotten one from them! It says, "We have just shipped your order, and are extremely sorry for the delay. To make up for it, we would like to offer a 5% discount on your next order." ... What should I say?
Mr. Clark: Tell them ... thank you, and that we always enjoy doing business with them.
