Jeff: Huh? Oh, ah ... not really. Didn't get a wink of sleep. My neighbor was making noise all night -- again. It's the third time this month.
なんて？　いや、え……あんまり。ちっとも眠れませんでした。お隣が一晩中――また騒音をたてていました。今月は三度目です。

Mr.Clark: Really? Did you complain?
ほんとうか？　キミは苦情を訴えたのか？

Jeff: Yes. At first, I tried asking him politely to keep it down, but that
had no impact on the situation whatsoever.
ええ。最初は、低くするように丁重に頼んでみましたが、でもそれはその状況にちっとも影響がなかったのです。

Mr.Clark: Have you tried calling the police?
キミは警察を呼んでみたのか？

Jeff: Yes. But they've just given him some warnings. They say they can't
actually force him to keep quiet.
はい。でも彼らは彼にいくつか警告を与えただけ。彼らは彼に静かにしているよう強制させることができないというのです。

Mr.Clark: That's ridiculous! It seems to me that if he continues to make noise, your landlord should take steps to have him pack up and leave!

Jeff: Now THAT would be a cause for celebration. Unfortunately, however, I'm sure he would never do that.
