holiday falls on a Friday, making that a three-day weekend ...
(ひとりごと、カレンダーを見ながら)ええっと。次の祭日は金曜に当たるから3連休になる……

Jeff: Are you planning your next holiday, Mr Clark?
クラークさん、次の休日を計画しているのですか？

Mr.Clark: Oh, hi Jeff. Yes, kind of. A friend is selling his sailboat and I'm thinking of when I could take it for a test-sail.
おお、やぁジェフ。そうだ、ちょっとね。友だちがヨットを売りに出していて、それでいつそれをテスト帆走するか考えているんだ。

Jeff: Oh. You're going to buy a sailboat?
へぇ。ヨットを買うつもりですか？

Mr.Clark: Well, I'm tinkering with the idea, though my wife has yet to warm to it.
まあ、考えているんだが（まだ決めていないが）、もっとも妻はまだそれに気が進まないんだが。

Jeff: So, she doesn't care for boats?
それじゃ、奥様は船がお好きじゃない？

Mr.Clark: No, she doesn't -- especially after my last little mishap.
そうだ、好きじゃない……特に私のこの前のちょっとした不運な事故のあとでは。

Jeff: Your last "mishap"? What happened?
この前の「不運な事故」って？　なにがあったのですか？

Mr.Clark: Oh, nothing that serious. I was out sailing on Windsor Bay a
few years ago when a storm came up out of nowhere. The going got a bit too rough, and well ... she capsized and sank.
おお、そんなにたいしたことじゃない。2、3年前にウィンザー湾に出てどこからともなく嵐がやってきた。そのときの状況はちょっと荒れ過ぎていて、それでえー……船は転覆して沈んじゃった。

Jeff: ... Sank?
……沈んじゃったって？

Mr.Clark: Yes, but up to that point, everything was fine! Anyhow, are you free one day during the next three-day weekend? Would you care to join me on a test-sail?
そうさ、だがそのときまでは、全てが順調だった！　とにかく、キミは次の3連休の間一日ぐらいはヒマだろ？　テスト帆走に付き合ってくれるかい？

Jeff: I'd love to but ... I already have plans.
それはしたいのはやまやまですが……すでに予定があるんです。
