Jeff: Mr Clark, I was just looking at yesterday's global sales report and noticed how poorly we're doing in Australia.
クラークさん、昨日の国際販売レポートをちょうどみていて、とくにオーストラリアでいかによく売れていないかに気づきました。

Mr.Clark: Yes, and our chances of doing any better there are rather slim.

Jeff: Really? But maybe we could change that. Do we have anything in the works? I mean, poor sales are always attributable to something and ...
マジですか？　しかし我われはそれを変えることができないかもしれません。何か企画中のものがありますか？　つまり、販売不振は必ず原因があるし……。

Mr.Clark: Our poor sales in Australia are directly attributable to our board of directors.
オーストラリアでの販売不振は役員会に直接の原因がある。

Jeff: Our board of directors?
役員会？

Mr.Clark: Yes. Time and time again I have raised the issue at board meetings,
and each time, my suggestions have been met with opposition, or at least with complete disinterest. They seem much more interested in continuing the status quo, as if THAT were working!

Jeff: But can't they see something should be done? If not, we'll end up losing all of our market share!

Mr.Clark: Well, Jeff, it seems we see eye-to-eye on this one. Maybe I'll have you come to tomorrow's meeting and make a pitch.
