Mr. Clark: Jeff! Do you know what time it is?! Why are you so late?
ジェフ！　何時だかわかっているのか?!　なぜそんなにおくれるんだ？

Jeff: Sorry. I had some bad luck on the way here.
すみません。来る途中についてなくて。

Mr. Clark: What happened?
何が起きたんだ？

Jeff: Well, I was in my car and all set to leave home when I saw an old woman slip on some ice and fall down on the sidewalk. Naturally, I ran over to help her get back on her feet but ... she'd broken her leg.
あの、車に乗って完全に家を出ようとすると、あるおばあさんが歩道の氷のうえですってんころりとするのを見ちゃって。当然、彼女が元通りに立つのを助けようと駆け寄りましたが……彼女は脚を折っていました。

Mr. Clark: Did you call an ambulance?
キミが救急車を呼んだのか？

Jeff: Of course. When it came about 10 minutes later, though, it was going too fast, spun out of control, went off the road & got stuck in some snow. We did what we could to try and move it but it was really stuck.
もちろんです。それが、10分ほどできたのですが、あまりに速く走っていて、スピンアウトして道から外れて雪にはまっちゃったんです。我々は車を移動させようとできるかぎりしましたが、本当にはまってしまいまして。

Mr. Clark: So what did you do?
それでキミはどうしたんだい？

Jeff: Well, I volunteered to take the woman to the hospital in my car,
which I did. Great, with that out of the way, I thought I could still make it to work & be somewhat on time. But, just after leaving the hospital, I spun out of control myself and then went into a ditch! I had to walk here from there.
ええ、その女性を私の車に乗せて病院まで連れて行くと申し出て、実際にそうしました。よし！　それがうまく片付いて、まだ仕事になんとか間に合うんじゃないかと思いました。でも、ちょうど病院を出たあとに、ボク自身もスピンアウトしてしまって溝にはまっちゃいました。ボクはそこからここまで歩かなければなりませんでした。

Mr. Clark: Jeff, you've got to drive more carefully! The roads are icy and very slippery!
ジェフ、キミはもっと注意深く運転しなさいね！　道路は凍結していてよく滑るから！

Jeff: ... Yes, thanks for the warning.
