Jeff: (reading) Dear Ms. Tada:

Thank you for your e-mail of yesterday. In reply, I can only say that I am extremely sorry we have not yet been able to ship product to you. Actually,
we have been suffering from a shortage of skilled personnel at our production facilities for some time. On top of that, a small mouse has crawled into our packaging machinery, which has stopped all production temporarily. He, or she, has not yet come out.

Please know, however, that we have put top priority on this problem and are working around the clock to solve it. In any case, you have my word that we'll be able to keep up with demand very soon!

Noriko: That's quite an excuse.
すごい言い訳ね。

Jeff: Yes, and it's also a form letter. Except for the date, your name, and that bit about the mouse, it's the exact same e-mail they sent to me 3 months ago when we had this problem before!
そうだよ、おまけに定型文だ。日付、君の名前、それにあのネズミの話を除けば、それは以前にこの問題があった3ヶ月前に先方が私に送ったメールと全く同じメールだ。

Noriko: How do you think I should reply?
どのように返事をするべきだと思う？

Jeff: I would tell them to try harder or we'll "put top priority on finding a new supplier ... tomorrow!"
僕なら彼らにもっと真剣に努力しなさい、さもなければ我々は「明日にでも…新たな出荷元を見つけることを最優先にする」というだろうね。
