(ある地元の男性が、最近政府のスパイ活動への関与の容疑で、金曜日に逮捕された。警察によると、二十人もの他の者たちが関与していた)。

Noriko: What are you talking about, Jeff?

Jeff: Just reading this article in the paper. "Though government officials
have refrained from releasing details of the arrest, they have called for calm, and pledged to issue a full report as early as next week. One source has said that the case may pave the way for a full-blown investigation at various governmental levels".
(ただ新聞のこの記事を読んでいるところ。「政府の当局者は逮捕の詳細を公表するのを控えたけれども、平静を求め、そして早ければ来週には十分な報告を出すと約束した。ひとつの情報源はその事件が色々な政府のレベルで本格的な調査への道を開くかもしれないと語った」)。

Noriko: That's quite a story! I can't believe I didn't see it when I read the paper this morning. Do they give the man's name?

Jeff: Yes. It says here that though he used as many as 30 different names, the one he used most often was... Jeffrey Swiggum.

Noriko: Oh, you're kidding!
