B: I hear he has just made a lot of money on the stock market.
A: Ah, that would account for his sudden cheerfulness. Let's hope it lasts.
A:　グルームバーグさんはどうかなさったの？　エレベーターの中で彼がニコニコしてあるメロディーを口笛吹いていたのを見たところ！
B:　株でだいぶ儲けたところらしい。
A:　あー、それで急に上機嫌なわけか。それが長続きするのを願うことにしよう。

■ climb the company ladder　　会社の地位を登る、出世する、昇進する
Interviewer: Mr. Thornton, please tell our listeners why you gave up your position as CEO and left the company altogether at the age of only 45.
Thornton: Well, I climbed the company ladder as high as I could, and then ran out of challenges. Now, I'd like to start my own company and see how that goes.
