Noriko: Things are great! We've managed to cut back on costs AND boost sales, so that's good.
順調よ！　なんとか経費を削減して、しかも売り上げを増やしたわよ。だからいいかんじ。

Jeff: Fantastic. Yes, reining in expenditures was all but impossible with the previous regional manager out there. I mean, he made some effort, but it wasn't nearly enough. By the way, have they found anyone to replace him yet?
すばらしい。うん、経費を抑えることはそちら(サンフランシスコ)の前任の地域部長では無理だった。つまり、彼はある程度努力をしたけど、とても足りなかった。ところで、もう彼の後釜は見つけたのかい？

Noriko: Yes, they have. As of the end of next month, the new West Coast Regional Manager will be ... Noriko Tada.
ええ、決まったわ。来月下旬の時点で、新しい西海岸地域部長は……多田記子になるの。

Jeff: Really? Ummm... Congratulations.
マジで？　へぇ……おめでとう。

Noriko: Thank you! Oh, it's late. We'd better go. So what does everything
come to?
ありがとう！　あら、遅くなったわ。行かなくちゃ。それ全部でいくらかな？

Jeff: Don't worry. I've got this one. (looking at the check) Let's see. Ummm .... Noriko, could you lend me some money?
大丈夫。僕がもつよ(支払うよ)。(勘定を見ながら)ええっと。あのさぁ、記子、僕にちょっとお金を貸してくれないかな？
