Noriko: What's that, Jeff? A menu?
それなに、ジェフ？　メニューなの？

Jeff: Yes, to a fast food chain shop that a friend of mine is running.
He says they're having trouble attracting new customers & was wondering if I had any ideas or suggestions.
うん、友達が経営しているファーストフードのチェーン店のためのだよ。新しい客を惹きつけるのが難しくなっているそうで僕に何かアイディアや提案がないか知りたがっているんだ。

Noriko: Let me see that. ... Oh, Bailey's Burgers! I've seen them around but have never eaten there.
それを見せて。あぁ、ベイリーズ・バーガーズね！　あちこちでよく見かけるけどまだ食べたことないわ。

Jeff: Yes. When they opened about 10 years ago, they drew attention as one of the most successful local start-ups in years. Recently, though, they've been operating in the red and have had to cut a lot of jobs.
そうだね。10年ほど前にオープンしたとき、久しぶりに最も成功した地元の新会社の一つとして注目を引きました。でも、最近、赤字経営をしていて沢山の雇用を削減しなければならなくなったんだ。

Noriko: How are their burgers?
その店のバーガーはどうなの？

Jeff: Not bad but I think they need something new & more eye-catching
in their menu. I'm going to suggest they offer bear burgers or turtle meat
salads -- something like that. Hmmm ... Maybe I should get into the field myself.
悪くはないけど何か新たにそしてもっと目立つものがメニューに必要だと思う。クマ肉バーガーとかカメ肉サラダ―そのようなものを提供してはどうかと僕は提案するつもりだよ。なんか・・・僕もその分野に飛び込んでみるのがいいかな。

Noriko: Well, I wouldn't count on having any success.
まさか、あまり成功するのを期待しないほうがいいわよ。
