ジェフ、眠そうね。

Jeff: Yes, thanks to my rock musician neighbors. They've set up a recording studio in their living room and were playing all night long last night ... again.
そうだよ。ロック音楽のお隣さんのせいだ。彼らは自分たちの居間に録音スタジオを設置して、昨晩ひと晩中演奏していたんだ…まただよ。

Noriko: That sounds like a problem. Have you complained?
それは問題みたい。苦情を言ったの？

Jeff: Many times, but they just ignore me. And when I went to the landlord
to say that he should get rid of them, he said he couldn't do it without good reason! In fact, he said he couldn't do anything about it!
何度もね、だけど彼らはただ僕を無視するだけ。それで彼らを追い出すべきだと言いに大家へ行ったんだ。大家は正当な理由がなくては、それをできないと言ってた！　実際、そのことについて何もすることができないと言った！

Noriko: That's strange! Why would he say that?
それは変よ！　なぜ彼はそう言うの？

Jeff: Well, I couldn't help but wonder myself. So I did some checking. Turns out that they are relatives of his! Apparently, he thinks they'll be famous someday, so he's letting them stay -- and protecting them!
あのね、僕自身不思議に思わざるをえなかったよ。それで少し調べた。彼らが親戚だとわかったよ！　彼は彼らがいつか有名になるだろうと考えているらしく、だから彼らを居座らせて――それで彼らを守っているんだね

Noriko: Ahh, so THAT accounts for his doing nothing.
あぁ、だからそれが彼が何もしないことの原因ね。

Jeff: Right, but I have a plan where they'll be forced to leave very soon. I'm about to take some drastic action.
そうだ、だけど彼らをすぐに去らせる計画があるよ。僕は大胆な行動をとるつもり。

Noriko: What are you going to do?
何をするつもりなの？

Jeff: That's MY secret.
秘密だよ。
