Jeff: Not quite yet, but I should be by the time it starts.

Noriko: What's going to happen?

Jeff: Some younger, less experienced employees, who normally have little or no say in our meetings, will be asked for their ideas. If some of them are good, they might even be accepted -- by majority decision, of course. Anyhow, I think it will open up the chance for others like them to offer good ideas, too.

Noriko: I see. So people near the bottom of the ladder can win the right to have their ideas heard.

Jeff: Exactly. Everything is conditioned on job title these days, but I think great ideas can come from anyone, regardless of qualifications or experience.

Noriko: Yes, that's true. In Japan, things are traditionally done from the top down, but more and more companies are starting to take this approach.
