Jeff: Hey Noriko! I was reading THE NIKKEI WEEKLY a while back and there
was an article that caught my interest.

Noriko: Really? What about?

Jeff: Apparently, there's a professor at Tsukuba University in Japan who
has set his sights on algae as a new source to produce oil.

Noriko: Yeah, I read that, too. That was interesting.

Jeff: If the professor were successful, I think it would quickly shed algae’s image of something dirty and unwanted. In fact, it might even rank with corn as a source of fuel in the future.

Noriko: That would be great if it did.

Jeff: But evidently, the problem is making it cost-effective, along with having the space to cultivate it. According to the article, it was estimated that in order to provide for Japan's oil needs, you would have to have a piece of land the size of Fukushima Prefecture. Is that big?

Noriko: Well, it's not small -- 13, 782 square kilometers to be exact,
which is about 5,320 square miles. That's the equivalent of the State of Arkansas.

Jeff: Wow! How did you know that?!

Noriko: I know everything.
