Jeff: Really bad. A decade ago, not many people took it seriously, but that's not true anymore. More and more people are falling victim to it.
(本当にひどいよ。十年前、それを真剣に考えた人は多くはなかったけど、もうそうじゃないよ。ますます多くの人々がその犠牲になりつつあるんだ)。


Noriko: Yes, that's what I hear. Have YOU ever?

Jeff: No, not personally, but I know people who have. A lot of it is happening
on the Internet, where identity thieves seem to be riding waves of opportunity.

Noriko: Hmmm, so do you think we should blame the Internet for the problem?

Jeff: Well, not really, no. In most cases, I think people just have to
be more careful when they use the Internet. And, big credit unions and
banks would be doing everyone a great service if they would ratchet up restrictions when opening new credit accounts. So, by the way Noriko,
would you mind if I, umm, borrowed your passport and credit cards this
weekend? I just want to show my friends...
