Noriko: Jeff, how did yesterday's meeting go?
Jeff: Not very well.
Noriko: What happened?
Jeff: Well, there were some really good ideas put forward. One of them was to introduce a new product one month earlier than originally planned, which we could easily do.
Noriko: That sounds good.
Jeff: I think so too. It would catch our competitors completely off guard,
and effectively turn around our sales, which have been sagging.
Noriko: So what was the problem?
Jeff: It was flatly rejected by the president. For some reason, it's a
kind of hot-button issue with him.
Noriko: Hmmmmm. I wonder why.
Jeff: He didn't really say. Anyway, I would have argued for the idea, but
I don't really want to have a showdown with the president.
Noriko: I know what you mean. Well, maybe he'll come around later.
Jeff: I hope so, but I wouldn't count on it.
